Rt Kamenjak
The peninsula measured from the entrance gate, near the last houses of Premantura, to the southernmost point of the cape is about 3.5 km in length and varies in width from 0.5 to 1.5 km. This is the Lower Kamenjak. The Upper Kamenjak is even larger, accommodating the entire settlement of Premantura, starting with the Volme settlement (Banjole). It is partly within the municipality of Medulin and falls within the protected area that includes the Upper Kamenjak, Lower Kamenjak, and the Medulin archipelago. Cape Kamenjak is the southernmost point of the Istrian peninsula, located about 20 minutes’ drive from Premantura. Since 1996, Kamenjak has been listed as a protected area. Crystal-clear sea, numerous coves, and beautiful beaches make Kamenjak an ideal place for all-day summer swimming and water sports activities such as cliff diving. Its uniqueness is further highlighted by the fact that the renowned global travel guide Lonely Planet once included it in the list of the most desirable locations for a secluded Mediterranean vacation.
